The Woes of Compliance

by Chris Wiegman on June 8th, 2009

Before you read any further, keep in mind that this little post is more of a rant on my own experiences with a site re-design that I am leading.

So about 2 months ago we decided on Drupal. It’s feature set including current ACL and more really made it the only choice for our project in which we are moving from a proprietary CMS to something more standard. When we started this I was really excited that not only would there be good community support for our CMS, but also it would be nice to not have to re-invent the wheel in duplication features such as user management and others.

As good as the new software is I greatly over-estimated the learning curve. So far I really haven’t done much site building at all and have instead been working on trying to reproduce certain aspects of our current site including the calendar and a few others. I naively thought that Drupal’s modules would take care of the bulk of my problems, but unfortunately I was wrong. Oh well, more proof that nothing in life is easy, lol.
